Direct cash cattle trade is off to a quiet start with bids and asking prices slow to surface.  Buyers and sellers are busy taking inventory. If this week follows the recent trend, the bulk of the week’s business will take place sometime Thursday or Friday.  Deals last week in the North were marked at $243 to $252, mostly $248, about $3 lower than the prior week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.  Live deals in the South had a range of $154.50 to $156, mostly $155 about $1 below the previous week’s weighted averages.
