For Tuesday, a new storm system will have emerged from the Southwestern states on to the southern Plains, delivering much-needed precipitation. However, a stripe of heavy snow should fall on Tuesday and Wednesday from eastern New Mexico and northern Texas into the lower Great Lakes region, resulting in travel disruptions and a temporary increase in livestock stress. Meanwhile, severe thunderstorms may erupt across the Deep South, starting Tuesday afternoon. During the second half of the week, a cool, dry regime will cover much of the country, although periods of snow will affect the nation’s northern tier.
