It’s another quiet start for direct cash cattle trade activity. Bids have yet to surface. Asking prices have been floated at $157 live in the South, while the North has been quiet. It’s likely significant trade volumes will be delayed until sometime Thursday or Friday.
Boxed beef is lower at midday on light demand for light offerings. Choice is $.47 lower at $270.97 and Select is $.72 lower at $253.77. The Choice/Select spread is $17.20.
At the Callaway Livestock Center in Missouri, the offering was much lighter and feeder steers 400 to 550 pounds and 600 to 650 pounds were $4 to $6 lower.
