A potent winter storm will cross the Ohio Valley on Wednesday and New England on Thursday. Wind-driven snow will fall just north of the storm’s track. The combination of wet snow and gusty winds could lead to widespread power outages, especially in areas where snowfall totals 6 to 12 inches or more. Meanwhile, heavy showers and locally severe thunderstorms will plague the Deep South, starting later Tuesday, with the primary severe-weather threat shifting to the southern Atlantic Coast at mid-week.
