The chief legal strategist for the National Pork Producers Council says the U.S. Supreme Court could soon make a decision on Proposition 12.

Michael Formica tells Brownfield he’s expecting a decision before the end of the first quarter. “I think because of when we were heard, a late February or March timeframe is likely,” he said Wednesday at the 2023 Iowa Pork Congress in Des Moines, Iowa.

Proposition 12 would make it illegal to sell pork in California unless the animal is raised in a specific manner.
