Direct cash cattle trade is off to another quiet start.  The lone bid that has surfaced is at $158 live in Texas, well below the current asking prices which are at $161 to $162 in the South.  Asking prices in the North are at $255-plus dressed.  There was a light trade that took place in the North on Thursday at mostly $254, $4 above the prior week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.  It looks like business will hold out until the end of the day.
