Another quiet start to direct cash cattle trade following Thursday’s business. Bids are at $164 live in the South and $260 dressed in the North. Asking prices are around $165-plus live in the South and $262-plus dressed in the North. While it appears buyers and sellers are at a standoff, more business should develop over the balance of the day. There was another round of light trade that took place late in the day on Thursday with dressed deals ranging from $258 to mostly $260, $1 to $3 higher than the prior week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.
