Indiana’s winter wheat crop is in slightly better shape than this time last month.

The USDA says 66% of the crop is called good to excellent, 2% above a month ago, boosted by generally warm and wet weather for most of February.

The warmer temperatures meant rain instead of snow for precipitation, which pulled soil moisture levels higher, but parts of the state now have surplus soil moisture, making conditions muddy in those areas.
