Opal “Louise” Holubar, 94, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Friday, March, 3, 2023 at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown surrounded by her family. Funeral services will take place 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Louise was born on August 3, 1928 to Charles and Erma (Haines) Welt in Kansas City, MO. Her family lived there for a short time before relocating to Marshalltown. She graduated from Miller High School in Marshalltown, and went on to start work at Woolworth’s. She married Dale Holubar on January 2, 1949 at the Little Brown Church. They later welcomed two sons and a daughter and raised their children in rural Marshalltown. Louise worked at Van’s Café and as a factory worker at Marshalltown Manufacturing for several years. She also volunteered at the Marshalltown Hospital in the 80’s. She was a devoted member to the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. She loved baking wedding cakes for family members with her daughter, playing cards, socializing, quilling, word puzzles, spending her birthday money on the Kenny Rogers machine at the casino, and trying new recipes that grandpa would tell her she doesn’t need to make again. Louise was a member of the Dillon Social Club and the neighborhood birthday club.

 

Louise will be missed by her children; Michael (Sandra) Holubar, Linda (Jerry) Evans, James (Patti) Holubar, ten grandchildren; Jayme (Brad) Wilkening, Traci (Jeff) Robson, Lanese (Travis) Thompson, Lynnae (Lloyd) Couillard, Kent Holubar, Mitchell Holubar, Philip (Jamie) Holubar, Tenah (Art) Kennedy-Muro, Laurie (Garrick) Davenport, Rick (Regina) Evans, seventeen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandcildren, one sister-in-law, Betty Fouts, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, one brother, Virgil Welt, six brother-in-laws, five sister-in-laws, and five nieces and nephews.
