A southern Illinois farmer says field work in his area is on rain delay.

“Every time we are just about close enough to run, especially over our wheat acres, it rains.”

Mark Krausz of New Baden tells Brownfield they don’t have any anhydrous applied yet and their no-till fields still need fertilizer.

“So, we have several trips that we would love to make here in the end of March, but there will be nothing going on in the end of March, I can tell you that.”

And he says recent temperature swings have not helped prepare the soil for corn and soybean planting.
