Direct cash cattle trade is quiet at midday with business essentially done for the week. Asking prices for cattle left on showlists are around $172-plus in the South and $279-plus in the North. This week’s Southern live deals were marked at $168 to $172, and compared to last week’s weighted averages that’s $4 higher in Texas and $3 higher in Kansas. Northern dressed business had a wide range of $274 to $284, roughly $4.50 to $6.50 higher.
