A complex storm system will crawl eastward from the Northwest, reaching the nation’s mid-section during the mid- to late-week period.  Five-day rainfall totals could reach 1 to 2 inches or more in the Mississippi Valley and neighboring areas, with severe thunderstorms possibly accompanying the rain.  Some wet snow may fall late in the week across the northern Plains and upper Great Lakes region.  In contrast, dry weather will prevail during the next 5 days from southern California to the southern High Plains.
