A storm system currently centered over the northern Plains will drift generally eastward, reaching the Great Lakes region early in the weekend.  Hazards associated with the storm may include accumulating snow across the nation’s northern tier from the northern Plains into the upper Great Lakes region; as much as 1 to 2 inches of rain in the Corn Belt, which could worsen flooding across the upper Midwest; locally severe thunderstorms on multiple days across portions of the Plains, South, and Midwest; mostly dry, windy weather across the drought-stricken central and southern High Plains; and post-storm freezes during the weekend, possibly as far south as Texas’ northern panhandle and the mid-South.
