Direct cash cattle business is off to an active start. Live deals in the South are at $173, $2 lower than the previous week’s weighted averages. There are a few scattered bids on the table in the North at $283. Most of today’s business will likely come out of the South after the moderate activity in the North on Thursday. Asking prices for what’s left on showlists are around $176 live in the South and $286-plus dressed in the North.
