Another slow start for direct cash cattle business.  Bids and asking prices still haven’t been established.  There were just a handful of deals reported in the North on Tuesday at $277 dressed, but it isn’t enough business to establish a trend.  Look for packer inquiry to pick up as the day progresses. 

Boxed beef was higher at midday on solid demand for moderate offerings.  Choice was $.58 higher at $307.96 and Select was $1.17 higher at $286.06.  The Choice/Select spread was $21.90.
