Direct cash cattle trade activity is picking up.  Bids have surfaced across cattle country at $175 live and $275 to $278 dressed.  Asking prices in the South are at $172 live and in the North are at $280 dressed.  Look for more business to pick up as the day progresses.  So far this week, live business in the South has been at $170, $2 below the previous week’s weighted averages.  A handful of deals have been reported in the North at $277 dressed, and that’s not enough business to establish a trend.
