The U.S. Senate Ag Committee is recommending Xochitl Torres Small to serve as the next deputy ag secretary for USDA.

Chair Debbie Stabenow and Ranking Member John Boozman made the announcement Wednesday following a committee business meeting.

Her nomination now moves to the full Senate for consideration.

Torres Small, currently the Under Secretary for Rural Development, was nominated by President Biden for the position in February.
