A farmer in west-central Minnesota anticipates significant weed pressure in the weeks ahead.

Noah Hultgren of Raymond says weeds have been slow to emerge thanks to a cool start to spring.

“But we’re going to see some real massive growth here with the heat that we’re currently getting and that we’re forecast to get.”

He tells Brownfield herbicide applications are ongoing.

“First-pass spraying, then Roundup to kill off cover crop mainly and to get some layby chemicals down as well.”

Hultgren grows corn, sugarbeets, soybeans, kidney beans, and alfalfa.
