Below-normal temperatures and rainfall slowed progress in Kentucky this past week.

Keith Tapp farms in the western part of the state.  “We would have been wrapped up if we hadn’t had to replant about a fifth of our crop,” he says.  “We’ve had so much rain that recently that it took out everything we had planted up until a week prior.”  Statewide, the corn crop is 91% planted, with 76% of the crop emerged, and 76% rated good to excellent.  Soybeans are 72% planted, with 51% emerged.

Overall, Tapp tells Brownfield the crop was off to a good start.
