Hot weather will persist for the remainder of the week across the Deep South, especially in Texas, while above-normal temperatures will build northward across the nation’s mid-section. Late-week temperatures should reach 90°F or higher in parts of the Midwest, while triple-digit heat (100°F) will be observed each day in the south-central U.S. Meanwhile, a nearly stationary low-pressure system over the Great Lakes region will drift into Northeast by mid-week. Subsequently, an atmospheric blocking high-pressure system will become re-established across central Canada, contributing to the northward surge of heat across the Plains and western Corn Belt.
