The USDA says some areas of Minnesota have become very dry and need rain.  Seven percent of topsoil moisture was rated very short, with 34% short, 54% adequate, and 5% surplus. Six percent of subsoil moisture was very short, with 29% short, 61% adequate, and 4% surplus.

Corn emergence reached 94 percent complete, 6 days ahead of last year and 4 days ahead of the 5-year average. Seventy-five percent of Minnesota’s corn is in good to excellent condition.
