Hot weather in the south-central U.S. will intensify, with late-week temperatures in Texas ranging from 100 to 110°F. The remainder of the country will avoid extreme heat during the next few days, although rising weekend temperatures across the central one-third of the U.S. will extend as far north as the western Corn Belt and northern Plains. Meanwhile, any showers in the Great Lakes States should end by mid-week, followed by several days of mostly dry Midwestern weather.
