Exports are a bright spot for the U.S. pork sector.

National Pork Board vice president of international market development Courtney Knupp says recent trade data shows pork exports are up 14 percent year over year.

“We anticipate that to continue (as) the world is returning to its new normal, especially in Asia (where) the return to food service took much longer. And at the end of the day, the European production has been reduced and we are anxious to regain market share that we’ve lost in the last couple of years when they had a much lower cost of production.”

Speaking to Brownfield at last week’s World Pork Expo in Des Moines, she said NPB continues to invest in trade promotion.
