Direct cash cattle trade is relatively quiet as the standoff in the South continues.  Bids have surfaced at $178 to $181 live and $296 dressed.  Asking prices are at $186 live in the South and $298 to $300 dressed in the North. There’s quite a bit of distance between asking prices and bids, which could push significant trade volume until the end of the day.  There was another round of light trade on Thursday, mostly in the North at $296 dressed, $4 lower than the previous week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.
