Relentless heat will persist for the remainder of the week across Texas and environs, leading to additional stress on livestock and summer crops.  A northeastward extension of the hot weather will reach portions of the central Plains and the western and central Corn Belt.  In contrast, cooler-than-normal conditions will cover much of the West, as well as areas along and near the Atlantic Coast.  Meanwhile, significant rainfall will be focused across two areas:  the middle and southern Atlantic States and the north-central U.S.
