Another quiet start for direct cash cattle business.  Bids have been slow to be renewed, there were some noted at $180 to $182 live in the South on Tuesday.  Asking prices have been non-existent.  Look for significant trade volume to hold out until sometime Thursday or Friday. 

Boxed beef is lower at midday on light demand for solid offerings.  Choice is $2.58 lower at $334.33 and Select is $2.28 lower at $305.65.  The Choice/Select spread is $28.68. 

At the Ozarks Regional Stockyards in Missouri, steer calves under 700 pounds were mostly steady with similar-weight heifer calves steady to $4 higher.
