Re-intensifying heat in the south-central U.S. will expand to other areas, including the Desert Southwest and the Gulf Coast States, by early next week. In contrast, cooler-than-normal conditions will linger in parts of the West and from the lower Great Lakes States into the Northeast.
During the next several days, a low-pressure system crossing the nation’s northern tier could deliver much-needed rainfall, locally 1 to 2 inches or more, across the northern Corn Belt, from the Dakotas to Michigan.
