A farmer in south central South Dakota says timely rains have helped the crops that have struggled in the severe drought.

Chad Blindauer says the farm, near Mitchell, received more than an inch of rain in a storm on Tuesday night and more rain would be welcome.

“We are dry and if we don’t get more rain, we’ll start going backwards again with the crops. Luckily, right now, we look ok with the recent rains.”

He says the rain soaks into the ground quickly and the crops are also using a lot of moisture.
