Rain made a lot of difference last week for crops in Ohio.

The USDA says that even with nearly a quarter of the state in some stage of drought, most of Ohio still has adequate soil moisture and the rain that did fall last week boosted crop condition ratings.

Still, corn and soybean development remains slower than average.

72% of Ohio’s corn crop is called good to excellent, 5% higher, but 13% is silking, compared to the five-year average of 30%.
