A state ag director says if the Mexico’s ban on biotech corn isn’t lifted soon, it could severely impact US corn producers.
Sherry Vinton from Nebraska tells Brownfield it’s clear that Mexico’s action violates the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement. “We need to stand firm on science. The science is clear. We’ve agreed to make agreements for trade based on science, and we will stick those rules.”
She tells Brownfield she will express those concerns with the United States Trade Representative’s Office and Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack next week.
