At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were lower, pressured by recent trend in boxed beef and getting ready for Friday’s USDA reports.  August lives closed $1.00 lower at $180.32 and October lives closed $.97 lower at $182.75.  August feeder cattle closed $1.70 lower at $245.10 and September feeder cattle closed $1.02 lower at $248.30.

A very light, scattered direct cash cattle trade took place on Thursday.  Live deals in the South were marked at $180, $2 higher than the previous week’s weighted averages.
