An expansive heat wave will continue to affect much of the nation for the remainder of the week. Of note will be several hot days—especially July 25-27—in the western Corn Belt, with maximum temperatures broadly approaching or reaching the 100-degree mark. However, temperatures in the eastern Corn Belt should remain mostly at or below 95°F. Late in the week, cooler air should overspread the northern Plains, Midwest, and Northeast, while hot weather will linger farther south.
