U.S. poultry production was up slightly in June.
The USDA says 4.496 billion pounds of poultry were certified wholesome in June 2023, 1% higher than June 2022, with a slight gain in chicken to 3.989 billion pounds and a 12% jump for turkey to 493.734 million pounds.
A 1% decline in the chicken slaughter was canceled out by heavier average live weights, while turkey processing and total live weight were both above a year ago.
