A technical agronomist says this week’s severe heat wave could significantly increase crop stress.
“Corn specifically, we start getting above that 92 degrees and factor in potential dry conditions depending where you are, it can start impacting photosynthesis and overall productivity,” said Andrew Penney with Bayer Crop Science.
He tells Brownfield producers could see yield impacts. “Whether it’s too hot of temperatures that impacts photosynthesis or lack of moisture, that can definitely impact kernel weight.
