Late season disease pressure is top of mind for corn and soybean growers in southeastern Illinois.

DEKALB/Asgrow Technical Agronomist Josh Tooley says following drought stress and recent rains corn growers are watching for some of the usual disease suspects.

“ We are seeing southern rust starting to blow in from the South, not yet in Illinois. Then from the northern side we are watching where tar spot is going to end at and where we’re going to see it locally.”

Meanwhile soybean growers are scouting for a fairly new disease called Red Crown Rot.
