A wheat extension specialist says results of high management trials are surprising given the lack of moisture.

Dennis Pennington is with Michigan State University.

“We had nearly a record number of days in many locations across the state with like zero or no measurable rainfall and so they were expecting to go to the field and have just a disaster in terms of yield,” he shares.  “However, everybody that I’ve talked to was pleasantly surprised.”

He tells Brownfield high management wheat saw up to 27-bushel gains when compared to conventional practices.
