It’s another quiet start for direct cash cattle trade activity.  Showlists are higher across all major feeding areas.  Bids and asking prices have yet to surface.  It’s likely any significant trade volume will be delayed until the latter part of the week. 

Boxed beef is higher at midday on solid demand for moderate offerings.  Choice is $1.97 higher at $307.47 and Select is $2.70 higher at $283.15.  The Choice/Select spread is $24.32. 

At the Joplin Regional Stockyards in Missouri, feeder steers were steady to $3 higher.
