Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures in Maine and interior sections of the Far West, while hotter-than-normal weather will prevail along the Pacific Coast and much of the central and eastern U.S.
Meanwhile, near- or below-normal rainfall in most areas from the central and southern Plains to the Atlantic Coast should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in southern Texas and west of a line from Arizona to Lake Superior.
