During the next 5 days, a rather dry pattern will remain in place across much of the country.  However, the lower Southeast will be an exception, as daily thundershowers forming in advance of a slow-moving cold front could boost 5-day rainfall totals to 2 to 4 inches more from Florida to the coastal Carolinas.  Periods of rain will also occur from the Great Lakes region into the Northeast, leading to 1- to 2-inch totals.  Completely dry weather will cover large sections of the Plains, western Corn Belt, and mid-South, while monsoon-related showers will dot interior sections of the West.
