There’s some light direct cash cattle business developing.  Dressed deals in parts of Nebraska are at $292, $3 lower than the previous week’s weighted averages.  Asking prices in the South are around $180 to $182 live and are at $294-plus dressed in the North.  Look for packer inquiry to improve as the day progresses, but significant trade volume could hold out until sometime on Friday. 

Boxed beef is higher at midday on solid demand for light offerings.  Choice is $.16 higher at $317.21 and Select is $.50 higher at $292.09.  The Choice/Select spread is $25.12. 

At the Huss Livestock Market in Nebraska, steers over 950 pounds were $2 higher.
