Direct cash cattle trade is quiet to start the week. Business didn’t pick up in the North until Thursday last week with dressed deals ranging from $290 to $295, roughly $3 lower than the previous week’s weighted averages. Southern live business didn’t develop until Friday, mostly at $179, generally steady with the prior week’s weighted averages.

Boxed beef was steady to lower at midday. Choice was $1.18 lower at $316.72 and Select was down $.23 at $292.44.
