Idalia will weaken over land during Wednesday while traversing northern Florida and southeastern Georgia, although lingering impacts will include coastal flooding (along the Gulf Coast of Florida and portions of the southern Atlantic Coast), damaging winds, and rainfall totals of 4 to 8 inches, with locally higher amounts.  On Thursday, Idalia will move east of the Carolinas, although re-intensification should be inhibited by significant wind shear.  Much of the remainder of the country will experience dry weather during the next 5 days, with cool, showery conditions confined to parts of the western U.S.
