Direct cash cattle trade is quiet.  Buyers and sellers are preparing for business in the holiday-shortened week.  Bids and asking prices have yet to be established.  Significant trade volume isn’t expected to develop until the back half of the week.  Last week, business started on Wednesday, with the bulk of the week’s deals taking place on Thursday.  Northern dressed deals had a range of $288 to $295, mostly $290, which was about $3 lower than the previous week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.
