A northern Michigan farmer says drought in his region has knocked back corn yields.

Ryan Bentham tells Brownfield irrigating corn through the germination period and rains the past month have been somewhat beneficial.

“Our corn yields won’t be a bumper crop,” he says.  “I think the ears aren’t going to be as much as what it could be just because the size of the ears were kind of set early on when it was dry.”

Bentham farms 4,500 acres and operates a dairy farm with his family in Missaukee County which has been abnormally dry since the beginning of June.
