Direct cash cattle trade is off to another slow start. Bids have yet to surface. Asking prices have been restated at $180 live in the South, while not fully established out of the North. Packer inquiry should improve as the day progresses. So far this week there’s been light, scattered business with deals in Nebraska and Iowa from $286 to $289 dressed, and just a handful reported in Kansas at $179 live. But this isn’t enough business to establish an accurate price trend.
