An Eastern Nebraska farmer says he’s concerned about increased weed pressure after spotting some unlikely reemergence.

Mitch Oswald tells Brownfield, “This is the first year in a number of years that we saw late Goss’s wilt set in.”

He says his management options are limited. “After we get it harvested, all that disease is going to be laying in the residue on the ground.  We’re going to have to look at hybrids for next year that are more tolerant to Goss’s wilt.”

Oswald says other weeds like pigweed and palmer amaranth are almost out of control.
