For the remainder of the week, locally heavy showers will continue across the lower Southeast, including Florida’s peninsula, where 5-day rainfall could reach 2 to 6 inches or more. Farther north, additional Midwestern rainfall could total 1 to 2 inches, mainly across the eastern Corn Belt, with dry weather returning by Friday. Meanwhile, Northwestern showers will remain heaviest from the Cascades westward, although late-week precipitation will spread as far east as the northern High Plains.
