Across the Corn Belt, showers—currently focused across southern Wisconsin and portions of neighboring states—continue to slide southeastward.  Wednesday’s high temperatures will remain below 70°F in portions of the upper Great Lakes region—but will reach 80°F or higher in parts of the southern Corn Belt.  Despite some minor crop developmental delays in the eastern Corn Belt, overall maturation of Midwestern summer crops is occurring at a faster-than-normal pace.  For example, 70% of the U.S. corn was fully mature by September 24, well ahead of the 5-year average of 60%.
