A US Senator is encouraging the USDA to declare its employees essential.
During a call on Wednesday, Pete Ricketts, a Republican from Nebraska, told reporters its vital that the USDA continue to report market data. “So that those people can stay at their jobs, and we can continue to get that information out.”
And, he says, he’s concerned what could happen at US ports. “We know Customs and Border Patrol, for example, will continue to work, but there’s a lot of contractors that also work that are not going to be on the job or get paid or whatever.
