Some members of Congress continue their push to increase oversight of foreign ag land ownership.
U.S. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson says a recently introduced bill in the House, the Protecting U.S. Farmland and Sensitive Sites from Foreign Adversaries Act, would be a big step forward. “We have a proposal and it’s bipartisan,” she said. “It would be the first CFIUS reform since 2018. It would also make sure that whoever our USDA secretary is would have a seat at the table to better help track these transactions.”
